A sensitive dive into the reality of the inventory of Kanak heritage and the meticulous investigative work carried out by Roger Boulay over two decades.
Roger Boulay, collaborator of the Agency for the Development of Kanak Culture from 1979 to 1998, was entrusted by Jean-Marie Tjibaou and his team with an exceptional mission of Inventory of Dispersed Kanak Heritage (IPKD) in museums and public collections. of the whole world. He carried out this important census work in close collaboration with Emmanuel Kasarhérou, now president of the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac. A meticulous work of investigation documented by more than 3,000 sketches and fine watercolors of the objects inventoried.
Through a dialogue between the original notebooks and works kept at the museum, the exhibition proposes to lead visitors into the "adventure of the inventory", so as to apprehend its concrete reality and to highlight the stages , the actors and the memorial stakes of this colossal mission for the preservation of the heritage of New Caledonia.
